the fortunately

My sincerest apologies for the lack of an actual update and the past few random posts.

Here we go, redemption (hopefully):

Last Friday, I was exhausted from the two grueling days of clinicals followed by work. That day marked Day 4 of being fill-in supervisor while the supervisor was fighting “the plague.” He caught what’s been going around the company which might be some form of what I had the previous weekend. Fortunately, the shift is filled with decent people, so I didn’t have any trouble. Still, I wasn’t in the state of mind to be the one in charge for all those days. Luckily, it paid off and the supervisor’s supervisor gave me a free day off this week, and tomorrow… err… later today is that free day… sorda.

This past weekend was very relaxing. I wasn’t ill, and that made all the difference in the world. Mare & I saw a great movie called Hard Candy over at our friends’ apartment late Saturday night. I highly recommend it. It’s disturbing. Earlier that day, I did my obsessive apartment-cleaning which also included the joy of mopping. I watched a little bit of the first Toxic Avenger which is one of the best independent series of all time. On Sunday, I mainly hung out with Mare and Kent. I didn’t do too much. We wanted to hang out with Gonzo and told him we would but K$’s bowels said no. We stayed in, made some chicken fried rice and watched Running with Scissors which I thought was a splendid movie. All that movie-watching wet my palate just right.

This week so far has been mostly redundant and uneventful. Monday went by quick with the routine Crown visit. Rice needs his spyware removed. Tuesday went by in a blur. I attended my “tutoring” session which was very helpful but basically a run-down on test-taking strategery. I also found out about a book called The Average American Male which is being released on the 13th. I have to own it ASAP. After work, Kent, Mare & I watched Half Nelson which was a terrible movie. Don’t watch it unless you want to waste your time. Highly unrecommended. On Wednesday, I slept in as late as possible, showered, ate, went by the medical center to pick up my assignment and then went to work. I bought some tacrack at the Bell even though I wasn’t hungry, but I only did it ’cause I had the time.

I don’t know if I’m gonna stay up all nite or not, but I have clinical at 6:30 and still have to do all of the required homework paper-ation. It’s such a pain, but I’m getting better at it. Fortunately, I have the free day off tomorrow, so I’m gonna use that to my absolute advantage… take a long nap after clinical then take the lady out to dinner and a movie. I think we’re gonna see Factory Girl ’cause she hasn’t seen it and I liked it that much.

Friday’s pay day but it’s also the day the checking account gets drank like a keg at a frat party ’cause the cashola’s switching places to clear the rent & bills. Argh. FORTUNATELY (I love that word), February was a free month for Kent & I for leasing with the complex we currently live in. Bonus. That helped me greatly. I hope the BBO movies arrive on Friday as planned, so Mare & I can enjoy our Bustaburger night.

I’ll throw you another post like this later today if my much-needed nap doesn’t eat me alive before Mare shows up. The post will have something to do with why I’m so busy but I’m not or something of that nature… maybe… we’ll see. Now go on with your day like the busy bee you are.

Someone at work had the clever idea of attaching forks to the sign-out Pens which everyone made a million jokes about. The teeth on the forks eventually were broken off and later replaced with spoons. If it wasn’t for so many pens disappearing in our department, then someone wouldn’t have to be attaching cutlery to the company writing utensils.
