If you live in a neighborhood that uses curbside or wall-mounted mailboxes, then you should make sure to own a mailbox that will last you twenty years or more. Even though times have changed, mailboxes have stayed relatively the same. mailboxes are still prone to vandalism or destruction by the weather over time. You want that mailbox to last as long as your house.
