the house

Locating and buying a home can be a long, tedious process. Dealing with a realty service like Apex NC Real Estate would make finding a home much easier. With the internet simplifying people’s lives, I can save valuable time searching for a home by setting up email alerts. All I have to do is customize my preferences and it’s free. This is how finding a house should be.

the sigh of relief

On Monday, I had my first exam. I didn’t do too well, but I did about as good as I expected. I did maybe two hours of studying over the past two weeks, but I did attend all of my learning labs.

Today, I had to perform a mastery demo which I think I did all right in. I couldn’t remember the names of a couple things but recalled after a short moment of thought. Fortunately, my lab partner went first.

Tomorrow will be an average day with only work scheduled and an early bedtime. I have to drop my apartment and mail key off at the old apartment office. Wednesday should be the easiest weekday this week.

Thursday will be a wake-up-too-early-for-my-own-good day. I’ll have to be up around 5:30am to get ready to be at my clinical by 6:30. Ouch.

Tonight, I don’t have much to worry about. I have to swing by the old apartment to make sure everything is completely cleared. I have the opportunity to relax at my new apartment aside from that. I’m thinking I can actually watch a movie. I have an assignment for school to do, but it shouldn’t be too difficult. Just read the material a few times over, start and don’t stop ’til I’m done.

I’m glad to have those two exams over with and look forward to an open weekend coming up.

the no Leo, gravy in-between battles

The past couple days have been rough.

I was out of bed at 7:30 on Thursday to get to my clinical orientation, and traffic was terrible. I literally live across the freeway from the place. After the orientation, I proceed to my old apartment to get more of my belongings to the new place. The last box I packed into my car was the worst. My numbskull thought it was a good idea to place all nine bettas (in their glass bowls full of water) and carry down them down the two flights of stairs to the car. Horrible idea. I strained my back and tired myself loading the box into the car. After unloading everything out of the car, I had a chance to relax a tiny bit before I had to pull eight hours at work. I only slept for less than two hours the night before and was completely beat by the time I got home. The rest of the details are just stray grains of salt for my wounds.

Friday wasn’t as bad. Since I was so exhausted from the previous day, I managed to get more sleep this time. I was out of bed around 6:35ish to be out the door at 7:05 to battle morning traffic to class. I did some learning from 8 to a quarter to 3 then hustled to work, arrived almost 15 minutes late (which is OK ’cause my excuse is valid) and proceeded with the remainder of the 8-hour shift. I feel like repeating that it was not as bad as Thursday. Key point: Get enough sleep. You’ll go absolutely bonkers if you don’t.

You know that feeling you get where you’re too tired but can’t go to sleep ’cause it’s not the time and place? The feeling where your blood feels rusty running thru your arteries. Yeah, that was me these past couple days.

New stresses coming to me sooner than I’d like:

  • Make up hours on Saturday at work from 3pm-11pm
  • Pick up couch with Ryan on Sunday before 5pm
  • Finish online module work before the weekend’s over
  • Study first 3 modules for test on Monday at 1:00pm
  • Study for physical assessment mastery demonstration at 12:30pm on Tuesday
  • Try to not die

the hectic

Yesterday was a gloomy day. The rain poured off and on all over the beds and the loveseat we transported in the back of DMC’s truck.

The conclusion of the night was quite enjoyable. We had to wait for Ryan and Jay to get off work at 11 to transport my bed and the loveseat. We went to the Kerb before we did the moving and enjoyed their insanely slow service.

After we finished moving for the nite, K$ gave Ryan a mohawk with my beard trimmer. The hilarious part was the beard trimmer ran out of juice, so we attempted to recharge it. The joke was that Ryan should go to Wally Green’s with his partial mohawk buying an electric razor. We let it recharge for about 15 minutes, but that only gave K$ a few minutes of use. He was almost done but not quite, so Ryan had to return earlier on Wednesday for K$ to finish.

I didn’t see a single drop of rain fall from the sky today. Maybe we should have done all the moving today. Oh well. We managed to get a few other big items.

We ate at China Star today & it was awesome.

I thought I had to be at my clinical orientation at 6:30 in the morning, but the calendar says 8. Hooray for an extra hour of sleep. I don’t have my usual alarm clock here, but this notebook has a decent alarm clock program installed.

I still have plenty to move, and I am slowly falling behind in school. Once I’m settled enough, I’ll be playing catch-up.

This week has been the most stressful in a while, and the extreme stress hasn’t even started. I have to wake up extra early in the morning later today. Go to clinical at 8 then work from 3 to 11. Then learning lab on Friday at 8 to 2ish close to 3 then work again from 3 to 11 granted that I’ll be done with lab in time. I had planned to do my make-up hours for work on Saturday from 7am to 11pm, but I said forget that and will just be working from 3pm to 11pm. On Sunday, I will be moving the rest of my belongings and be doing a bunch of clean-up at the old apartment.

I’ll be fine, just taking it one day at a time.

the potholes

Yesterday, I had my tire repaired. I hit a pothole on Saturday that bent the rim, so I had that fixed as soon as I could.

Today, K$ & I signed our new lease. The cable guy just finished transferring the internet service, so no time was lost from the information superhighway.

After we finished signing the lease and doing the walk-thru, we met up with Ryan DMC who helped transfer K$’s bed to the new place.

Today, I am using PTO and moving all day. Ryan should be meeting up with me later tonite after he gets off work to move my bed over here.

Mare just arrived, so we’re gonna start moving stuff.

the exhausted and delirious

Survey says that long days can kill a man.

Yesterday, I was out of bed at 6:30 to make it to Learning Lab at 8. We had a break at 11:45-12:30, so I decided to go to Players and get a combo. Traffic was steady, and I misjudged my time so I only had the chance to eat half of the fries. The burger, the remaining fries and the most of the soda was left to get or stay cold in the car. Lab ended at 2:30, and I went straight to work. I saved myself from cashing in a couple hours of PTO.

As I was driving to work, I noticed I had missed a call. I recognized the number but wasn’t sure who it was. I checked the message, and it was the Complex wanting me to return the Call. I called them back on a break, and as it turns out, the Unit was flooded during the Winter Storm and the Foundation is supposedly bad. You’d think they could have been straight up about the latter fact before assigning us the Unit.

So they assigned us a new unit which is a bit of a pain but okay. I have to send another Mail Forwarder, call the Cable to update and call the Electric.

I finished the rest of the combo at work: semi-cold drink, cold fries, burger semi-nuked on another break. It all still tasted great.

After work, Mare & I went to the Bust then Whataburger, our Friday night meal ritual. I usually get a #1 combo, but I had to change it up since I had a burger and fries meal earlier.

I have a long list of things to do today, so I’m getting on it. This is the last weekend for me living at the Summit. Tuesday will be a new Chapter Start.

the lab

The clock reads almost three, and I’m still awake. I have to attend a learning lab at 8. That’s about 5 and a half hours from now. The alarm is set for 6, and I’m hoping that I’ll wake up to it. What am I doing blogging right now?! I should be in bed!

I had a module discussion board response to post which I’ve been putting off ’til about five minutes ago. With that out of the way, I don’t have to worry about it ‘cept that I have to post a couple more replies to other people’s responses. They want us to participate and communicate with each other.

So I’m cashing in a couple hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) tomorrow ’cause the lab will be running ’til 3PM. I’d rather have a two-hour break than go straight to work and most likely be late. I’ll also be cashing in two shifts worth of PTO this coming Tuesday and Wednesday for the transition to Echo Base.

Since work was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, I was unable to go in therefore was not paid for those days. They gave us the opportunity to make the time us this Saturday and next Saturday. I’ll be making the hours up next Saturday to bank a little overtime ’cause that’s how it’s gonna work out. The 16-hour workday will be painful, but it’ll keep me caught up with all the PTO-cashing in I’ll be doing.

The ice is mostly melted, so I’m hoping traffic will be half-decent in the morning but doubt it will ’cause Texan drivers are overcautious even when the roads are just wet.
