the time and a half
A deadline was approaching at my job, so we were given the opportunity this past week to stay later and work some overtime. I had school in the way, so I wasn’t able to work extra during the week. I also had taken Wednesday off for my birthday, so I’d have to work the eight hours before I started accruing overtime ’cause PTO doesn’t count toward overtime. We also had to work over the weekend, so I volunteered to worth both days but only ended up working on Saturday from 11am to 11pm.
Saturday was long but painless. My manager brought us pizza which was a super bonus. I woke up not feeling well on Sunday, so I called to let them know I was going to be absent. I spent that day relaxing, made a visit to Fry’s, finished building Mare’s machine and studied a bit for my exam the next day. We also got another bonus this past Tuesday after the deadline was met, so I guess I’ll be taking Mare somewhere nice.
Our weeks start on Saturday, so once this upcoming Friday passes and I’ve worked my forty for the week, the hours I worked the previous weekend will be counted as overtime. w00t! Time and a half pwnz!
Instead of going the usual route with a place to stay in another town either on a business trip or on vacation, consider a Bed & Breakfast. Hotels, motels and your average inns are so ordinary. The motel has your run-of-the-mill diner next to it that you can just walk over to for your morning meal, but at a bed-and-breakfast, the meal is brought to you.
