the second anniversary

Today, Mare and I celebrated our second anniversary together.

We started late, but we were able to get plenty accomplished before she had to get to work.

I had bought her some clothes in San Francisco that we had to return to the one location they have here in Austin, but we both had the chance to explore Highland Mall for the first time. I was under the impression that it was a run-down mall, but I was so wrong.

Northcross Mall is the run-down mall in these parts. We went by that one yesterday to pick up some booster packs and even took a stroll around the building to check out what was going on. It just seemed depressing.

We ran across another Gamefellas/Moviefellas, the same company that we went to Northcross Mall for yesterday, in Highland Mall to our surprise. They also had booster packs. They had ones that they were out-of-stock of in their Northcross Mall that I was looking for, so I bought the six they had.

After the mall, we went to Hula Hut for our anniversary. This was the first place I took her to when we first went out. Coincidentally, the hostess sat us at the same table from the first time we went together. Mare had the Grilled Hawaiian Chicken, and I had the Beef Fajita Pipeline Enchilada. We concluded with an über-sweet piece of flan.

The food was A+. The enchilada was huge. The service was good, and the atmosphere was also good. We ate there around 3pm on a Sunday, and they were still a bit busy. They are a real tourist attraction, because that was what I mostly saw for guests and those who didn’t seem like tourists came off as Austin’s fashionistas or business-types enjoying a late Sunday lunch dressed casual with friends or family.

After Hula Hut, we went by Austin Books. We noticed someone at the restaurant had an Austin Books merchandise bag slung over her chair and decided that we’d visit to pick up the first and second issues of The Umbrella Academy. When we arrived, I looked around for the title and then asked one of the guys where their back issues went because I noticed they were missing. He said they were in their storage unit, because they were planning on doing some remodeling. Mare got the first volume of Strangers in Paradise. The clerk praised the title while he completed her purchase.

We made it back to my apartment with enough time for her to get ready and go to work. We managed to get plenty done in three and a half hours.
